Zyclara (imiquimod) Cream, 3.75% for Actinic Keratoses

Zyclara™ (imiquimod) Cream, 3.75%, is a topical cream for the treatment of actinic keratosis (AK) on the full face or balding scalp.

How does Zyclara Cream work?

  • Zyclara Cream works by activating the immune cells in the skin.
  • Zyclara Cream not only helps clear visible actinic keratosis (AK) growths, but also reveals and treats AKs that may be hidden under the surface of your skin.

How often do I apply Zyclara cream?

The Zyclara dosing schedule is:

2 WEEKS ON: Apply Zyclara Cream once a day for 14 days.

2 WEEKS OFF: No treatment for 14 days.

2 WEEKS ON: Resume once-a-day application for 14 days.

It is important to follow and complete the final 14 days of dosing to help you get the most out of your treatment.

  • Use up to 2 packets for each application.
  • Discard any open packets when finished.
  • For use on the skin only (topical). Do not use Zyclara Cream in or on your eyes, nostrils, mouth or vagina.

Before treatment:

AK growths are visible.

2 weeks afer starting treatment:

Both visible and previously hidden AK growths are revealed and treated.

4 weeks after starting treatment:

Most patients see a reduction in AK growths.

6 weeks after starting treatment:

Additional AK growths, including previously hidden ones are revealed and treated.

14 weeks after starting treatment:

Most patient see AK growths either partially or completely cleared from their skin.

Local skin reactions can occur in the treatment area, including skin redness, scabbing or crusting, flaking, scaling or dryness, swelling, sores or blisters, draining (weeping). The skin response can vary from mild to severe.

How should I use Zyclara Cream?

Zyclara Cream should be applied just before your bedtime.

  • Do not use more Zyclara Cream than you need to cover the treatment area.
  • For use on the skin only (topical). Do not use Zyclara Cream in or on your eyes, nostrils, mouth or vagina.
  • Do not use more than two packets of Zyclara Cream on the treatment area.
  • Use Zyclara Cream exactly as your healthcare provider tells you to use it. Your healthcare provider will tell you where to apply Zyclara Cream and how often and for how long to apply it for your condition. Do not apply Zyclara Cream to other areas.
  • Using too much Zyclara Cream, or using it too often, or for too long can increase your chances for having a severe reaction or other side effects.
  • Talk to your healthcare provider if you think Zyclara Cream is not working for you.

Important Safety Information

Zyclara Cream is a prescription medicine for use on the face or balding scalp only (a topical medicine) to treat actinic keratosis (AK). Do not use Zyclara cream in or on your eyes, nostrils, mouth or vagina.

When using Zyclara Cream, the most common side effects involve skin reactions in the application area. These include redness, scabbing or crusting, flaking, scaling or dryness, swelling, sores or blisters, and draining (weeping).

When using Zyclara Cream do not use sunlamps or tanning beds, and avoid sunlight as much as possible. Use sunscreen and wear protective clothing if you go outside during daylight.
