Vectical (calcitriol) Ointment
Vectical® (calcitriol) Ointment is a medication applied to the skin for the treatment of mild-to-moderate plaque psoriasis. It is available by prescription only.
Calcitriol, the active ingredient of Vectical®, is the naturally occurring and active form of vitamin D3. It is a vitamin D derivative similar to calcipotriene that is found in Dovonex® and Taclonex®.
Like other vitamin D derivatives, Vectical® slows down the over production of skin cells. It has been shown in studies to be well tolerated even when used on sensitive skin fold areas, such as the groin or neck.
In a one year study of people with psoriasis, 64% of those patients who used Vectical® Ointment for the full year reported at least marked improvements in their psoriasis.
