Aczone (dapsone) Gel 5%
Aczone® Gel 5% is a topical medication used for the treatment of acne. It is available by prescription-only.
The active ingredient of Aczone® Gel is dapsone. Dapsone has been shown in clinical studies to be safe and effective for the treatment of inflammatory acne.
Use Aczone exactly as directed by your doctor.
Do not take more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor. Using more medicine or applying it more often than prescribed will not make it work any faster, and may increase side effects.
- Wash the areas of your skin where you will apply Aczone®.
- Gently pat your skin dry with a clean towel.
- Apply a thin layer of Aczone® to the areas of your skin that have acne.
- A pea-sized amount of Aczone® will usually be enough.
- Rub the Aczone® in gently and completely into the skin.
- Make sure to put the cap back on the Aczone® tube. Close it tightly and put the tube back in its original box.
- Be patient. It can take several weeks of daily use to see results.
If your acne does not get better after using Aczone® for 12 weeks, talk to your doctor about other acne treatments.
