Endocrinologists

What is an Endocrinologist?

An endocrinologist is a doctor who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of endocrine diseases, such as diabetes, thyroid disorders, and pituitary disorders.

Professional Endocrinology Organizations

The American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists is a medical professional community of clinical endocrinologists committed to enhancing its members' ability to provide the highest quality of care.

The Lawson Wilkins Pediatric Endocrine Society (LWPES) promotes the acquisition and dissemination of knowledge of endocrine and metabolic disorders from conception through adolescence. The LWPES has over 900 members representing the multiple disciplines of Pediatric Endocrinology. The members are dedicated to research and treatment of children with endocrine disorders; reproductive, bone, thyroid, diabetes, obesity, growth, pituitary and adrenal.

The American Diabetes Association's mission is to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes. The ADA funds research to prevent, cure and manage diabetes; delivers services to hundreds of communities; provides objective and credible information; and gives voice to those denied their rights because of diabetes.

Patient Advocacy and Research Organizations

The Endocrine Society is the world's oldest, largest, and most active organization devoted to research on hormones and the clinical practice of endocrinology. The Society works to foster a greater understanding of endocrinology amongst the general public and practitioners of complementary medical disciplines and to promote the interests of all endocrinologists at the national scientific research and health policy levels of government. The Hormone Foundation, the Society's public education affiliate, is a leading source of hormone-related health information for the public, physicians, allied health professionals and the media.

The Society for Endocrinology is the major British society representing scientists, clinicians and nurses who work with hormones. The Society aims to advance scientific and clinical education and research in endocrinology for the public benefit; to educate and inform the public on all aspects of endocrinology; and to attract good young scientists, doctors and nurses into endocrinology and to retain them in the discipline, in order to improve science and medicine for the public benefit.
