Practice Philosophy

Our goal is to provide quality dermatologic services to the whole family.   ALL patients are seen by a Board Certified Dermatologist.  ALL diagnoses are made by the board certified dermatologist.

We will not pass your care off to pseudo -providers claiming to be specialists in dermatology.   We believe a TRUE (REAL) Dermatologist is a physican who has completed medical school and then completed a minimum of 4 year of residency training with a minimum of 3 of those years in an Accredited Dermatology Residency Program.  Nearly all true (real) dermatologists are *Board certified in Dermatology * (www.aad.org).  If you are desiring specialty care, you should have the expectation that the person is trained appropriately and board certified by the American Board of Dermatology

If your care is primarily provided by a physician without these credentials or worse, a pseudoprovider (who has NOT even recieved a basic medical degree); you should strongly consider moving to another organization who will provide you with accurate and ethical dermatology services and diagnostic skills.

At Greater Des Moines Dermatology, we believe that dermatologic care should be delivered by a board certified dermatologist.    We do not see how a physician extender with very limited formal training and with virtually none of the academic rigors of a general practice physician could ever be expected to act as a specialist....

Imagine going to your lawyers office and having the paralegal sign off on your legal documents without amy oversight of the lawyer...Why would you accept this in Dermatologic Specialty Care.   Physician Extenders including PAs (physician assistants) and NPs (nurse practitioners) came into existence to serve the underserved in primary care....NOT to masquerade as specialists in ANY SPECIALTY of medicine where advance formal education should be the NORM and EXPECTATON!
